Knowing obesity
Is one surgical technique good for all obesity patients?
Definitely not! “There are no obesity surgical techniques but patients.”
This seems obvious, but sometimes the perspective is lost. Each patient is different, the origin of his obesity, his evolution, his associated vital problems, his family obesity, may or may not have metabolic problems… Evidently, each patient needs a personalized study and the most appropriate operation for his case must be indicated.
A good Surgeon and bariatric surgery team, must be able to optimize two or three surgical techniques for the control of obesity, not being subordinated to a single technique, offering the same to all patients.
Our recommendations in this regard are:
- If your Surgeon only offers / performs one surgical technique (even with technical variants), consult other techniques with other surgeons.
- Do not ask your Surgeon to perform an operation that he has not offered you / does not usually perform.
